The Importance of Individualized Level of Care Placement

Choosing the most appropriate level of care for individual needs is essential for lasting recovery. Addiction affects everyone differently, so it’s important that treatment is matched to the unique goals and requirements of each client. If a person enters a treatment program that is too much or too little, they may either be overwhelmed and not able to successfully build the stability they need for lasting success. Finding the appropriate level of care means that an individual will have the correct balance of medical assistance, therapeutic support, independence, and real-world practice .

Matching care levels to personal severity, co-occurring conditions, social support, and readiness for change not only improves safety and engagement but also significantly increases the likelihood of maintaining sobriety.

01

Detox Placement

For some people, the first step in care is getting safely through withdrawal. While The Lakes does not provide detox onsite, our team can help coordinate medical detox or inpatient stabilization at trusted facilities and then support a smooth transition into our programs once you are medically stable.

02

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

Our Partial Hospitalization Program offers a full day of focused care in a calm, supportive environment. It’s a space to rebuild structure, practice new coping skills, and find clarity with the help of a dedicated clinical team.

03

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

The Intensive Outpatient Program combines structure and flexibility, making it easier to balance treatment with daily life. Clients take part in group and individual therapy, building insight, confidence, and stability at a steady, sustainable pace.

01

Crisis Management

When symptoms feel unmanageable or safety is a concern, The Lakes can help you navigate next steps. Our team can coordinate crisis evaluations, connect you with appropriate inpatient or higher-level care, and stay in touch so there is a clear plan for stepping into PHP or IOP at our Lakeland center once you are more stable.

02

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

Our Mental Health PHP offers a full day of focused care in a calm, supportive setting. With intensive group and individual therapy, psychiatric support, and structured routines, clients have space to stabilize, practice new coping skills, and regain a sense of control before stepping down to a lower level of care.

03

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

The Mental Health IOP provides structured care in a supportive, small-group setting. Through therapy, connection, and experiential practices like mindfulness and art, clients gain balance, insight, and lasting emotional strength.

What is the difference between PHP and IOP?

Each level offers a different amount of time in treatment and day-to-day structure. PHP is the most intensive: you are at the program most of the day, several days a week, with a full schedule of groups, individual therapy, and psychiatric support. IOP is a step down, with fewer hours on fewer days, so you can keep working, going to school, or handling family responsibilities while still getting consistent support.

How long does treatment usually last?

Most clients participate in programming for two to six months, though the length of stay depends on clinical recommendations and personal goals.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes. The Lakes accepts private pay and out-of-network insurance. Our team assists with verification and reimbursement guidance.

Can I attend therapy while working or going to school?

Absolutely. Our IOP programs are designed with flexible schedules that make it possible to maintain daily responsibilities while continuing treatment.

What conditions do you treat?

The Lakes specializes in mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and burnout, with integrated substance use support when needed.
