Healing from addiction takes more than stopping substance use. It means understanding the emotional, psychological, and environmental roots that keep you stuck. At The Lakes, our substance abuse levels of care are designed to meet you where you are and guide you toward lasting recovery.

01

Detox Placement

Before starting treatment, many clients begin with early intervention and a medically monitored detoxification to safely clear their system and prepare for the emotional work ahead. While The Lakes does not provide detox on site, our team partners with trusted healthcare providers throughout Florida to coordinate placement and accept referrals for continued care.
We stay in touch throughout the process, so you never feel like you’re on your own. Once detox is complete, you can step directly into one of our outpatient addiction treatment plans, continuing your recovery with familiar faces and consistent support.

Detox is often the hardest step to take, but it’s also the first real sign of hope. Our team is here to guide you through it, answer your questions, and make sure you enter treatment feeling safe, supported, and ready for change.

02

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

Our Partial Hospitalization Program provides the most intensive level of our continuum of care at The Lakes. It offers the structure and consistency of a full-day program while allowing you to return home in the evenings.

PHP is ideal for clients who need focused, hands-on support in early recovery. Each day includes individual and group therapy, psychiatric care, and holistic practices like yoga, meditation, and art therapy. The goal is to help you regain balance, mentally, physically, and emotionally, while you rebuild a healthy routine.

For those transitioning from residential treatment or a medically managed intensive inpatient program with 24-hour care, PHP offers a smooth step down into structured outpatient support. Located in a quiet, private setting near Tampa and Orlando, The Lakes gives clients the space and guidance they need to make meaningful, lasting changes.

03

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

The Intensive Outpatient Program offers more structure than standard outpatient care but still allows you to stay active in your daily life. It’s designed for people who want to deepen their recovery work while maintaining their independence.

You’ll participate in therapy several days a week, combining individual sessions, group work, and experiential activities like mindfulness and art. Each part of the program is meant to help you understand your emotions, manage triggers, and build confidence in real-world situations.

Our IOP bridges the gap between higher-intensity programs and ongoing outpatient services. It’s a strong next step after PHP or a good starting point for those ready to take recovery seriously in a supportive outpatient setting.

What are ASAM treatment levels?

ASAM levels, developed by the American Society of Addiction Medicine, are nationally recognized guidelines used to determine the right type and intensity of care for each person’s needs. They help make sure that your treatment program is both structured and flexible enough to fit your life. At The Lakes, our PHP, IOP, and Outpatient treatment programs are built around these standards, offering support that adapts as you grow in your recovery.

Do you offer detox on-site?

The Lakes doesn’t provide detox services directly, but we work closely with licensed medical detox centers throughout Florida to coordinate safe, comfortable placements. Our team stays in touch during the process and helps you transition smoothly into our treatment services once you’re ready. From your first call, we’ll make sure every step feels supported and clear.

How long does treatment last?

Treatment at The Lakes is highly individualized. Most clients participate for two to six months, depending on clinical recommendations and personal goals. Some stay longer for continued therapy or aftercare support. Your progress sets the pace, and our team will help you decide when it’s time to step down to the next level of care.

Can I work or go to school during treatment?

Yes. Many of our clients balance recovery with their jobs, school, or family responsibilities. Our Intensive Outpatient and Outpatient programs are designed with flexible scheduling so you can keep building your life while getting the support you need. We’ll work with you to create a schedule that fits your routine and still prioritizes your healing.

Do you accept clients from outside Lakeland?

Absolutely. While The Lakes is based in Lakeland, many of our clients come from nearby areas like Tampa, Orlando, and across Central Florida. Our programs are ideal for people who want high-quality outpatient care in a setting that’s private, peaceful, and close to home.
